Nicholson Grant Enables Community Health Coalition’s Lead Screening Initiative

The Nicholson Foundation has awarded a $525,657 grant to the community health coalition in Greater Freehold. The grant will strengthen the Coalition’s infrastructure and support the launch of a community-wide initiative to assess and remediate lead risks, which pose a significant health challenge to young children in their most critical years of brain development.

Nicholson-supported Institute will “Teach the Teachers” to Improve Early Childhood Education

Supported by a grant from The Nicholson Foundation, the Transforming Early Childhood Leadership Institute will bring together school leaders, teachers, and staff from 30 schools across NJ for a 15-month professional learning experience. The Institute will help educators better serve children from vulnerable backgrounds in the early years of formal education.

Bringing Together the Trenton Community to Advance Population Health Initiatives

NJ Community Health Workers Begin Visits for Asthma In-Home Intervention Pilot Project

On June 14, a group of 11 community health workers (CHWs) were certified as part of the Nicholson-funded Asthma In-Home Intervention Pilot Project. The CHWs will now begin conducting home visits to approximately 480 high-cost asthma patients between the ages of 2-17 who are enrolled in Medicaid.
