"Strolling Thunder" Rally Calls for Action on Early Childhood Issues In NJ

Over 150 young children and parents joined together at the state capitol in Trenton on May 21 to call on lawmakers to improve policies for infants and toddlers and their families. Several State Assembly Members and Senators also joined with parents and advocates at the event to repeat the call that success for children begins at birth, and greater public investments are needed on early childhood issues.

New Jersey Raises Subsidy Rates for Child Care Programs

NJ’s Department of Human Services has announced the first increase in child care subsidy rates in 10 years. Rates will increase from 1% to 4% for child care centers receiving payment through the Child Care Subsidy Program, and from 4% to 24% for programs rated through Grow NJ Kids. The rate increases–a key goal of The Nicholson Foundation and other stakeholder groups–were the result of longstanding advocacy efforts.
