The Rutgers Center for State Health Policy conducts policy analysis, research, training, facilitation, and consultation on health policy in New Jersey.
This project supports analyses of healthcare utilization and costs to further advance the design of care improvement strategies and policies for low-income, vulnerable populations. Topics include: (1) avoidable hospital use and cost among low-income patients covered by both Medicaid and Medicare, (2) the role of behavioral health conditions in hospital use patterns and costs, (3) the correlates and causes of variability in avoidable hospital use and cost in 13 low-income New Jersey communities, and (4) use of emergency departments for dental care.
