The volume of healthcare data that is being collected to meet the requirements and goals of the Affordable Care Act will have a dramatic impact on healthcare delivery. What should we expect when it comes to data transparency, lower prices, and privacy?
In this NJ Spotlight webinar, expert David Newman—Executive Director of the Health Care Cost Institute—looked at the issues as they relate to consumers, healthcare providers and insurers. He discussed how states are making good use of big data, and the challenges ahead.
The rollout of the Affordable Care Act, with its emphasis on electronic information, healthcare delivery partnerships, and reducing costs, makes this the opportune time to start “big data” projects to improve patient outcomes.
This NJ Spotlight webinar, sponsored by The Nicholson Foundation and held June 25, 2014, introduced the subject of analyzing large data sets to discover trends and outliers in order to improve healthcare delivery.
The Nicholson Foundation & Rutgers Health Care Delivery Innovation Idea-thon was the first part of a three-part health care innovations competition, sponsored by The Nicholson Foundation in collaboration with Rutgers. In a two-day event last October 2014 (October 13th & 27th), inter-disciplinary teams came together to discuss and develop ideas for improving, and/or reducing the cost of, health care for vulnerable populations in New Jersey. The teams presented their ideas to a panel of eminent judges on the second day of the event. A total of $15,000 was divided among three winning teams.
Big data technologies benefit researchers and consumers in the health care system, but privacy concerns must be carefully weighed, concluded speakers at the "Big Data and Health: Implications for New Jersey's Health Care System" conference held April 4 on the Princeton University campus.
