Star-Ledger Op-Ed Highlights Nicholson-supported Project ECHO

The Op-Ed recommends expanding ECHO, a mentoring program for primary care doctors that can help them address the current opiate epidemic. The epidemic is largely driven by an over-reliance on prescription opiates, such as oxycodone, for treating chronic pain. This practice has led to high rates of addiction and increased risks of overdose and death.

Nicholson Funded "Medicaid Academy" Aimed At Improving New Jersey's Medicaid Program

A select group of managers across New Jersey government agencies that administer Medicaid are taking part in a unique two-year training program called the New Jersey Medicaid Academy (NJMA), which began in October. Funded by The Nicholson Foundation, the program is designed to advance the capacity of New Jersey’s Medicaid leaders to improve the state’s Medicaid program and better serve New Jersey’s 1.7 million Medicaid beneficiaries.

On October 9, 2015, the New Jersey Healthcare Quality Institute’s (NJHCQI) QI Collaborative hosted its Fourth Annual Medicaid Payment Reform Summit. The QI Collaborative, which is funded by The Nicholson Foundation, brought together stakeholders from across the State’s healthcare industry, government, and non-profit sectors to discuss strategies to improve New Jersey’s Medicaid program while reducing its costs.
