Trinitas Regional Medical Center is a full-service health care facility serving those who live and work in Eastern and Central Union County. It is the only hospital in Elizabeth, a densely populated low-income urban immigrant city with more than 125,000 residents. Trinitas also operates several statewide behavioral health programs. Trinitas is sponsored by the Catholic Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth and is committed to providing high-quality care, with a special concern for those who are poor, vulnerable, and underserved.

This project supports a planning process, in collaboration with Center for Care Innovations consultants, to develop a plan for an Innovation Center within a safety net hospital and to expand a formal process for innovation throughout Trinitas. The goals of the Innovation Center are to create a space conducive to innovation, provide a channel for employees at all levels to submit ideas for improvement, and develop a multi-disciplinary team that is proficient in leading staff through the innovation process.  A successful Innovation Center will help improve health care quality, enhance recruitment and retention efforts, gain a competitive advantage, and generate a positive Return on Investment (ROI).

Trinitas is one of two sites participating in the project. The other site is St. Joseph’s University Medical Center..
