NJ SPOTLIGHT, a subsidiary of The Community Foundation of New Jersey, is an online news service that reports on New Jersey policies, legislation, and issues that have a high impact on local communities.

This project supports two webinars on the challenges and opportunities of using Big Data to improve patient health outcomes. The first webinar, held June 25, 2014, provided an overview of Big Data in health, described examples of how Big Data are being used to improve healthcare delivery, and discussed how insurers can use Big Data analyses to cut costs and improve outcomes. In related work, NJ SPOTLIGHT developed a Special Report on how Big Data are being applied to improve healthcare outcomes and costs.

The second webinar, held October 23, 2014, explored issues related to transparency of Big Data, cost, and privacy, as well as areas of resistance within health systems to the use of Big Data technologies.
