Nicholson Foundation Executive Director Joins Panel on Racial Bias in Healthcare

On May 21, The Nicholson Foundation’s Executive Director Dr. Arturo Brito took part in a panel discussion entitled Racial Bias in Health Care: A Diagnosis and Treatment Plan for the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute’s Spring Conference.

Moderated by Linda Schwimmer, President and CEO of the Quality Institute, the panelists included Tiffani Johnson, faculty member at PolicyLab; Lani Alison, Vice President Clinical Affairs at Regional Cancer Care Associates; Marjorie Forgang, Vice President of Field Health Services at WellCare of New Jersey; and Suzanne Spernal, Vice President Women's Services at RWJ Barnabas Health.

Topics for discussion included the role Foundations can play in addressing racial bias in healthcare settings, and the connection between racial and other biases and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
